About the Shop — Houston, TX

Eighteen Years.
One Standard.

Meridian Restoration · Est. 2008 · Houston's East End

We started in 2008 with three bays, a rotisserie, and a conviction: Houston's classics deserved a shop that documented everything and shortcut nothing. Two hundred restorations later, the bays multiplied. The conviction didn't change.

The Story

How a Houston Classic Car Shop Gets Built One Standard at a Time

Meridian started the way most good shops do: with frustration. Our founder spent years watching beautiful cars leave other shops with hidden shortcuts — filler over rust, wiring taped instead of replaced, "restorations" that were really expensive paint jobs. In 2008 he rented a building on Navigation Boulevard, hired two craftsmen who shared the allergy to shortcuts, and started doing it the slow way: photograph everything, fix the metal first, and never deliver a car you wouldn't put your own family in.

The slow way turned out to be the good business. Word moved through Houston's car community the way it always does — one honest teardown at a time — and the shop grew into the full-service facility it is today: metal fabrication, engine room, paint booth, trim bench, upholstery, and electrical, all under one roof, all accountable to the same documented process.

"We didn't invent anything. We just refused to skip anything."
What We Believe

The Convictions Behind Every Meridian Build

Honesty Before Revenue

We talk owners out of work weekly — preservation instead of restoration, a better donor car instead of heroic repair, a tune instead of a rebuild. The lost invoices come back as trust, and trust built this shop.

Documentation Is Respect

Your car's history matters, so we record ours: every stage photographed, every finding reported, every build delivered with its binder. An undocumented restoration is a rumor with paint.

The Car Decides

Numbers-matching survivor or restomod canvas — the car's identity and your life with it set the plan. We build both ways, argue honestly about which, and never force a philosophy on a VIN.

Built for This Climate

Gulf humidity, coastal salt air, Texas sun — every material choice and every cavity of wax answers the environment the car will actually live in. A Meridian build is a Houston-proof build.

The Crew

The Craftsmen Behind the Restoration Benches

Twelve full-time craftsmen work these bays, and the tenure tells the story: our metal fabricator has shaped panels here for fourteen years; the paint team's lead blocked his first Meridian quarter panel in 2011; our trim and upholstery bench is run by a second-generation stitcher who learned patterns from her father's shop in the Valley. The engine room, electrical bench, and assembly bay carry the same gray-hair-to-apprentice mix — masters teaching the next set of hands, because this craft only survives if it's handed down.

What they share is temperament more than résumé: the patience to block a panel the fourth time, the honesty to flag their own redo, and the pride that signs invisible work. We hire for that first and train the rest.

The Facility

Inside Our East End Restoration Facility

4820 Navigation Boulevard holds the whole operation: dedicated teardown and assembly bays, a metal shop with English wheel and bead-roller fabrication, an engine room with its own machine-inspection bench, a climate-controlled downdraft paint booth, the trim and upholstery loft, and the parts room where two decades of sourcing relationships live in labeled bins. Cars in our care sleep indoors, insured and alarmed, in dehumidified storage — because protecting a customer's classic is part of restoring it.

The location matters too: minutes from downtown Houston, positioned for the whole metro, with enclosed transport partners on call for cars that don't drive yet. From full frame-off builds to restomod engineering, everything on the services menu happens inside these walls.

Questions We Hear

About the Shop FAQs

Please do — we'd rather you see the benches, the builds in progress, and the documentation wall than take our word for any of it. Visits are by appointment so someone can actually walk you through; call and we'll set it up.

The people in this building — no mystery subcontractors, no work leaving for unnamed vendors (show plating through our vetted partner being the one disclosed exception). You can meet the hands on your car at any visit.

Fully — garage-keeper coverage, monitored security, indoor dehumidified storage, and a no-joyride policy the crew treats as religion. Road testing happens on documented routes with your knowledge, and that's the only driving your car does without you.

No — the schedule holds concours builds and honest family drivers side by side, and both get the same standard scaled to their scope. The sentimental six-cylinder gets the same photography and the same welds as the auction car. That's the point of a standard.
